Just got this check in the mail.
I feel like my old employer sent this to me just to secretly watch me jump around ecstatically on the street in anticipation of a check for over, I don’t know, like, five bucks or something. I was sooo stoked. Realistically, anything over a dollar was bound to just send me into a joyous fit right there, rolling around on the gravel in front of all the gardeners sitting around doing nothing across the street. I wasn’t expecting much, just like enough to buy myself a bottle of Shaw and sip it through bouts of raucous laughter, thinking how much money I owe their credit line while hunched over my laptop this evening.
I HAVE MORE MONEY THAN THIS ON THE FLOOR OF MY CLOSET.
IN FACT, FROM MY PLACE ON THE COUCH RIGHT NOW,
I CAN SEE MORE MONEY THAN THIS.
THERE IS A NICKEL UNDER MY DESK.
