Tangents & The Times

[Author's note: This was originally posted on Valentine's day and then a number of technical issues- due to my own impatience and oversights- with the video were brought to my attention and so now, in the wee hours of the fifteenth I give you yesterday's post with the revised vid. So, it’s Valentine’s Day. I don’t really care. I mean, I like Valentine’s Day. It’s a fun day for people to get together. I just don’t relate it to a relationship. I kinda got over that when the only person who gave me a Valentine after you were forced to give everyone Valentines in elementary school, was a mentally disabled girl in seventh grade. The only person to ever send me flowers has been my father. I think I had a Valentine’s Day with a guy ONCE that was kinda fun but I mean, pizza and porn isn’t really anything to clamor for after high school. I’m not butt hurt or anything. It’s just something I’ve come to accept.

This year there were no expectations but some mild hopes that were inevitably dashed. And since these mild hopes were dashed, I’ve been met with the same stupid catch phrase from everyone: “he just wasn’t that into you.” WELL THANKS. OBVIOUSLY. And then every day I would be at the stop light on my way to work and there was this huge billboard for He’s Just Not That Into You. It’s like everywhere I go someone or something is telling me “he’s just not that into you”. Well, you know who is into me? ME. I’M INTO ME. So now I’m doing lots of things that are good for me and just as I started doing that, the billboard changed.

And then Rebekah came over and we made a vid about it.

So, that is that.

It says, “Every day is a turning point.” and on the side is where it says “Start a change reaction.”
Very enlightening.

I’m going to reference it for insightful conversations over dinner this evening… with my dad.
(He better have fucking got me flowers.)
